Which Blood Pressure Supplements Work, and by How Much?
Blood pressure supplements that work do so modestly. Pooled trials of L-arginine alone found average drops of 6.40 systolic and 2.64 diastolic mm Hg, at grams a day. Citrulline results are mixed. NCCIH says no supplement matches prescribed drugs. We found no source on a Melonex-style blend, which holds 500 mg per capsule.

How big are the effects in the studies?
Small on average, and wide in spread. A drop of 4 to 6 mm Hg is a group average, not a personal promise.
| Ingredient | Systolic | Diastolic | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| L-arginine (22 trials) | -6.40 | -2.64 | (Shiraseb 2022, arginine and BP) |
| L-citrulline (8 small trials) | -4.10 | -2.08, not significant | (Barkhidarian 2019, citrulline and BP) |
| Citrulline (15 trials) | -4.02 | -2.54 | (Luo 2025, citrulline/watermelon and BP) |
| Citrulline (another analysis) | No significant change | No significant change | (Mirenayat 2018, citrulline and BP) |
What about potassium, magnesium and other pills?
We read no source on potassium or magnesium pills for this post, so we give no numbers for them.
NCCIH names cocoa, garlic, fish oil, flaxseed, tea and probiotics as things that may help a little, with limited evidence and small effects. It also warns that some supplements can raise blood pressure or interact with medicines (NCCIH, Hypertension).
How do habits compare with a capsule?
Habit changes have larger documented estimates than any single supplement above.
Mayo Clinic estimates about 1 mm Hg lower for each kilogram lost, up to 11 for a healthy diet, 5 to 8 for regular aerobic exercise and 5 to 6 for limiting sodium (Mayo Clinic, 10 Ways to Lower BP).
- SodiumAmericans eat over 3,100 mg a day on average; AHA says no more than 2,300 mg, ideally 1,500. Limiting it to 1,500 mg may lower pressure about 5 to 6 mm Hg. (AHA, How Much Sodium Per Day) (Mayo Clinic, 10 Ways to Lower BP)
- WeightAbout 1 mm Hg lower for each kilogram (2.2 pounds) lost, per Mayo Clinic's estimate. (Mayo Clinic, 10 Ways to Lower BP)
- Eating patternA DASH-style plan with less salt can work about as well as medicine for some people; Mayo estimates up to 11 mm Hg from a healthy diet. (NHLBI, DASH Eating Plan) (NHLBI, High Blood Pressure Treatment) (Mayo Clinic, 10 Ways to Lower BP)
- ActivityRegular aerobic exercise lowers systolic pressure about 5 to 8 mm Hg. Adults are advised 2.5 hours of moderate activity a week. (Mayo Clinic, 10 Ways to Lower BP) (AHA, Life's Essential 8)
- Tobacco and sleepQuitting tobacco and getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep are two of Life's Essential 8. (AHA, Life's Essential 8)
- Not knowingAbout 1 in 3 U.S. adults with high blood pressure are unaware and untreated. It has no symptoms, so only measuring shows it. (NHLBI, What Is High Blood Pressure) (CDC, About High Blood Pressure)

See packsDoes a 500 mg blend reach those study doses?
No. The arithmetic does not allow it.
Melonex lists one proprietary blend of 500 mg per capsule. By label order the first name is at least 167 mg, the second at most 250 mg, the third at most 167 mg (21 CFR 101.36, Supplement Facts). Citrulline trials ran 3 to 8 g a day (Cleveland Clinic, L-citrulline). Even two capsules would be 1,000 mg.
No source we found tests Melonex. See arginine vs citrulline.
If you take blood pressure medicine, keep taking it (AHA, Managing BP Medications). Chest pain, trouble breathing or fainting means 911.
Is it worth trying a capsule anyway?
That is your call with your doctor. Do not rely on it.
If you go ahead, the bottle lasts 60 days at one capsule. There is no one-bottle pack. See pricing.

FAQ01
Melonex questions people ask
Do arginine supplements lower blood pressure?
In pooled trials of arginine alone, average drops were small, about 6 systolic and 2.6 diastolic mm Hg. Doses were grams a day. Mayo Clinic says it might help, while MSK calls the evidence mixed and limited. None of this tests Melonex.
Does citrulline work for blood pressure?
Results are mixed. One analysis found a systolic drop of about 4 mm Hg, another found no change. Cleveland Clinic says larger trials are needed. The doses used were 3 to 8 g a day, far above a 500 mg blend.
Is magnesium a blood pressure supplement that works?
We found no source on magnesium for this post, so we cannot say. Ask your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you take medicine for blood pressure or kidney problems, before adding any mineral pill.
How fast do blood pressure supplements work?
No source we found sets a time for Melonex. Citrulline trials lasted 1 to 16 weeks. Use a validated cuff and share the log with your doctor.
